The first thing you want to ask yourself when you do a trade debrief is, “Did I follow my trade plan?”.
You might ask what is a trade debrief? Let me explain. A trade debrief is where a trader will review all aspects of the trade. A trade debrief should be done whether the trade wins or loses.
The big question you want to ask yourself is, “Did I do what I said I was going to do?” This should’ve been documented in your trade plan.
When you don’t do what you say you are going to do you break integrity with yourself. When you break integrity with your self this tells your unconscious mind that you can’t trust yourself. Your unconscious freaks out, when you can’t trust yourself to be responsible as it relates to risk.
This will justifiably create feelings of uncertainty, anxiety, and fear. These feelings really don’t have anything to do with losing a trade, they have to do with you not trusting yourself.
We start teaching traders at the very beginning in Stage 1 of our Trading Success Blueprint to create and follow your trading plans. If you are a trader and aren’t doing trade debriefs, when are you going to start? Today would be the best time to start this new habit!
